The Darkest Roast We Make – Bold, Heavy & Unapologetically Intense ☕️🔥🇮🇹✨
This is coffee pushed to its absolute limit — and it is magnificent. Our Italian Roast is an extra dark, oily roast crafted from Central American coffees, taken well beyond a French roast to the deep, smoky, intensely flavored territory that defines the classic Italian roasting tradition. At this roast level, the beans emerge dark and glistening with natural oils, the origin characteristics give way to the roast itself, and acidity disappears entirely — leaving behind a cup that is pure roast character: deep, heavy, bold, and deeply satisfying. This is the coffee for those who want their cup to mean something. No brightness. No delicacy. Just bold, unapologetic coffee at its most intense.
Dark. Oily. Uncompromising. ☕️🔥
Tasting Profile
- 🔥 Deep & Smoky — the defining character of an Italian roast: a rich, smoky depth that permeates every sip
- 🍫 Dark Chocolate & Bittersweet — a bold, bittersweet cocoa intensity that is deeply satisfying and lingers on the palate
- 💪 Heavy Body — a thick, full, almost syrupy body that coats the palate and makes every sip feel substantial
- ⬇️ Zero Acidity — the extended roast eliminates acidity entirely, making this one of the smoothest, easiest-drinking dark coffees available
- ✨ Long, Smoky Finish — a finish that lingers with warmth and depth long after the last sip
What Is an Italian Roast?
The Italian Roast is one of the darkest roast levels in specialty coffee — darker than a French roast, taken to the point where the beans are deeply dark, heavily oiled, and the roast character completely dominates the cup. At this level:
- 🌱 Origin characteristics diminish — the terroir, altitude, and varietal character of the Central American beans give way to the roast itself. This is intentional — the Italian Roast is about the roast, not the origin.
- 🔥 Natural oils emerge — the extended heat draws the natural oils of the bean to the surface, giving Italian Roast beans their characteristic dark, glistening appearance and contributing to the heavy body and rich mouthfeel.
- ⬇️ Acidity disappears — the long roast breaks down the acidic compounds in the bean entirely, resulting in a cup that is completely smooth and non-acidic — ideal for those who find lighter roasts too bright or hard on the stomach.
